Sado (2020)
Single-channel film
Duration: 59min 37secs
Some stories begin with an ending. Sado walks that ending in reverse.
In Japan, they call it 'Karōshi'; death by devotion, by hours that consume the body from the inside. A myth of heroic exhaustion; a fire that burns its believers first.
This film unwinds like a charm spoken backwards; news footage folding in on itself. The world seems to remember, for a moment, how to stop.
In Sado, that myth falters, time stumbles, motion gives way. The frantic rhythm of labour loosens its grip, frame by frame, until even the image releases its tension and fades away. This is not failure, but a light extinguished. A requiem for those pushed past their limit, and a quiet homage to the body that broke to keep going.
